Professor Tristan Yan is a senior cardiothoracic surgeon at the Sydney Adventist Hospital and the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. His clinical appointments include the Head of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Director of Minimally Invasive Robotic Surgery at the Sydney Adventist Hospital; Head of Thoracic Surgery at the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse Cancer Centre; and Deputy Director of Cardiovascular Stream, Sydney Local Health District. He is internationally recognized for his minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques.

Professor Yan graduated from the University of New South Wales with Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. He also completed three postgraduate higher degrees including Master of Surgery, Doctor of Medicine and Doctor of Philosophy. As at 2024, he has authored or co-authored more than 330 articles and textbook chapters, with an h-index of 82 and over 250,000 citations.

Professor Yan is the Editor-in-Chief of the Annals of Cardiothoracic Surgery (ACS). The ACS has become a comprehensive video resource of cardiothoracic surgical procedures, reflecting Professor Yan's unique vision in cardiothoracic surgery and embracing today's technological and multimedia environment. ACS has received the 2023 Journal Impact Factor or 3.3, placing it as the third most highly ranked journal in the field of cardiothoracic surgery.
